Ikat

I'm sure you've seen this print, even if you haven't known exactly what it was...it's Ikat and it is everywhere!  You can find it in clothes for you, the kids, handbags, rugs, and pretty much anything that can come in a fabric print. I love that it adds personality to a room or an outfit, but there's something relaxed and casual about it too.   Here are a few of my faves...

What do you think?  Are you loving Ikat as much as I am?  Maybe your next home spruce-up will include some of these beautiful prints.

Confession time

Here goes...I love black painted walls.  I can't have them in my house, because in order to pull of that look, you've got to have a lot of natural light...so you don't look like you're going for the Halloween-look.  But I think done in the right way, it can look so glamorous. Lots of white molding and some flowing white window treatments would make those walls look like a million bucks. Case and point....

So, would you do it if you had all the ingredients to this daring recipe?

The design tip found at your grocery store

No, it's not some crazy craft made out of lima beans or plastic bags.  This one takes hardly any work at all really, and it can make a WORLD of difference.  So...are you intrigued yet?  I'm talking about fresh flowers.  Scroll through any home decor magazine and you are guaranteed to see it throughout.  It adds that special pop of color and just an extra dose of "life" to any room.

I have to admit...I might be a little spoiled on this one.  I always had an aversion to flowers for special holidays.  It's not that I don't love them, because I do...but it sometimes meant "I didn't think much about this special day, and so I picked some flowers up on the way home from work to keep the peace."  Can I hear an AMEN???  So, this summer in a effort to keep things exciting and new in our marriage, my sweet husband decided he was going to buy me fresh flowers every week...just as a reminder that he loves me.  This was huge...my thoughts on flowers were no secret, and the fact that he came up with this all on his own meant so much to me.  (This is NOT an endorsement to go tell all your husbands/significant others that the key to a happy marriage is flowers every week...it just works for us! :) )

Now, we are on a budget, so a lot of times these just come straight from our local grocery store, but I cannot tell you what a HUGE difference this makes in our home.  The color, the changing selection....it all adds so much to the overall look of our home.  See for yourself....

bathroom...just a couple red gerbera daisies help the neutral color scheme

Ok, these were from an upscale grocery store (bought because I was hosting a baby shower), but aren't they gorgeous??
Now onto some more rooms from Decor Pad that are lit up by their flowers....

Photobucket
The greenery brings so much life to this kitchen

Photobucket
I think I'm ready to cook brunch up in this gorgeous kitchen

Photobucket
One of my favorite kitchens, designed by Caitlin Wilson.  Preppy and clean. (Did you notice that amazing wallpaper too?)

Photobucket
Love the monochromatic color in the flowers...you notice them, but also all the other details in the room

Photobucket
You can't go wrong with a centerpiece of hydrangeas for the dining room

Photobucket
Love the contrast of color these add....and I ADORE that table those flower are on!

Photobucket
Gorgeous color scheme....and the flowers complement perfectly

Photobucket
Isn't this room to die for?  Such a mix of feminine and masculine...like the light pink roses on the rustic table.

So maybe getting flowers every week isn't an option, but maybe next time you have company or host a party in your home, try picking up some flowers while you do your shopping and see what that little change can add to your space!

One Kings Lane

As I posted yesterday, I LOVE a good a sale.  I was introduced to this site a while back that I absolutely love.   I love it for the inspiration, the unique finds and the great buys that are to be had.  It's is unique in that they have closeout sales that are up to 70% off but they only last 72 hours per sale, and once an item is gone, it's gone!

Photobucket

One Kings Lane caters to all walks of life...whether you like funky or traditional, have a large budget or a small one...I bet you can find a unique piece here.  They make it really easy on you too, you can have emails delivered daily to see what is up for sale for the day and what is coming up as well.

You can also use as a great guide to finding a great deal.  You KNOW they run great specials, and if you happened to see the same or similar piece somewhere for cheaper, than you can sleep easy at night knowing you got a great deal.  Also, they tend to run quite a few of the same designers and brands multiple times, so if you missed it the first time (or you saw it somewhere else and found that it cost more : )), you can make sure you are ready to purchase the second time around.

Here's an small idea of the variety you can find...

gorgeous stationary, $46 $24

colored baker, $36 $18

Photobucket
Ralph Lauren Home, goes up for sale in this morning

Photobucket
Set of 2 stainless serving trays, $70 $29

Photobucket
Antique English coffer, $4500 $2699...isn't it GORGEOUS?

This is just a small sampling of what they have...so, I dare you...go take a peak and see if you are as in love with One Kings Lane and all it has to offer as much as I am!

Wallpaper...will the next owners of our house hate me?

I don't know about you, but I am loving wallpaper right now.  There are so many gorgeous and luxurious styles....

The possibilities are endless with what you could do.  Everyone from Target  to Schumacher has gorgeous versions to choose from...from murals to trellis to damask.

My only problem is remembering the hours and hours I spent taking off the country blue floral wallpaper from most of our home.  I'm looking at redoing our office so maybe a focal wall of wallpaper or even a wallpaper-type stencil would be better.

What do you think?  Have you tried a stencil or the easier to put up and remove wallpapers?  I'd love to hear what you've tried!

Inspiration

And, yes, that's code for online window shopping.  One of my very favorite stores is Anthropologie.  I love that their look is unique and that I'm not going to see all my friends have the same exact shirt or decor.  I was browsing this morning and thought I'd show y'all some of my faves.  Enjoy!

Photobucket
This gorgeous shower curtain (available in 2 other colors too)

Photobucket
Wouldn't this look precious on a white dresser in a little girl's room?

Photobucket
This makes me think Sunday brunch for Spring time

Photobucket
I'd love this in my living room with all the blues and oranges.  Isn't it striking?

Photobucket
Chevron basket...made for the bath, but the possibilities are endless

Photobucket
Perfect transitional sandals...and they look so comfy too

Photobucket
Wouldn't this make a statement with a simple white shirt?

Photobucket
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE...need I say more?

Photobucket
I think this orange-red color is the perfect pop...it would look great with the nautical dress above

Photobucket
Ummm...I love these, but hopefully I can find the knock off somewhere since $238 isn't in the earring budget these days

Photobucket
Gorgeous detail but yet simple too

Photobucket

Neutral and blingy....doesn't get much better than that

Hope y'all enjoyed the "inspiration" as much as I did and maybe you'll check out their website to find your own as well!
